On October 18 2017, Minister Bruton announced the 50 schools selected to participate in the Trial of the Digital Learning Framework. We are delighted to announce that Scoil Chóca Naofa has been chosen to be part of this exciting initiative! Only 30 primary and 20 post-primary schools across the country were selected to participate in the trial.
The Framework provides a roadmap to help schools manage the transformation of teaching and learning as a result of new digital technologies. Learnings from the trial will be incorporated into the framework, the framework will be refined and fully implemented across all schools and teacher education programs.
The purpose of the framework is to:
- Help schools and individual teachers to plan how to upskill to realise the potential of digital technologies
- Provide for internal and external evaluation of how digital technologies are being embedded across all aspects of school activity.
- Support planning in areas like literacy, numeracy and STEM which require a cross-curricular focus.
To facilitate this plan, €180 million will be invested in upgrading ICT (information and computer technology) facilities in schools over the next four years.
We are very excited to be selected as part of this trial here at Scoil Chóca Naofa. We see this as a very positive step forward in strengthening and improving upon our digital learning initiatives across the school, from Junior Infants right through to Sixth Class.
