The Daily Mile is a fantastic initiative that the children in Scoil Chóca Naofa have enjoyed engaging with since they returned to school in March of this year. It involves getting out each day (or at least three times and a week) and running a mile. The children worked towards running this distance over some time and are now reaping the rewards from it.
The organizers of the ‘Daily Mile’ initiative were so impressed with our schools’ effort, they asked a class to participate in a promotional video based on the Royal Canal and the opportunities it provides for exercise and activity. The video was put together in conjunction with Athletics Ireland and Waterways Ireland.
Some of the girls from 6th class were interviewed on the day and spoke about the history of the Royal Canal, wildlife on the canal, the values of exercise and what they enjoy most about the Daily Mile. Keep an eye on the website as we will post the promotional video when it becomes available.
