Dear Parents/Guardians
Welcome back to term 3 – always a busy term with First Communion, school tours, Sports Day, Piano and Recorder recitals, Open Day for new Junior Infants, Standardised Tests, allocation of classes for next year, Graduation; dates for all these events will be notified to you as soon as we can. It is also a very enjoyable term– the days are longer and usually the weather improves.
School Closures for this term:
Mon 6th May (Bank Holiday) + Tues 7th May
Mon 3rd June (Bank Holiday) + Tues 4th June
Friday 28th June @ 12.00 noon for Summer Holidays
I mentioned to you last term that we are in the process of reviewing our Anti-Bullying Policy and our Code of Discipline. It is important that parents have an input to both policies as the school is so dependent on the support of all partners (parents, teachers, Board) to successfully implement policies. Please return attached suggestion sheet before Friday 12 April.
Dear Parents, The coffee morning in aid of the Princess Leah Fund on 5th March was a huge success. €342.50 was raised. Thank you to the students of 4th class for baking such beautiful cakes and to the Parents Association—without their help and support it would not have happened. Thank you also to Pat Collins for his generous donation of signed soccer jerseys—these will be auctioned at a later date.
Thanks to all the participants—especially the Reynolds family for the use of the truck, to Tommy Sims, our caretaker for preparing and dismantling float, to the Parents Association for all their efforts—blowing balloons, accompanying the children, to the members of staff who also volunteered to participate and to all the children who marched on such a dreadfully cold and wet day. You can view some photos on the web page.
Well done to Ms Kennedy and 6th Class who were 3rd in the Primary Planet Video Advert Competition. Also to Ms Diggin and Ms Ní Loinn and 4th, 5th and 6th classes who also participated (entries can be viewed on web page)
Local Garda, Julie Reidy, commends all the children from 3rd and 4th classes who entered “Safety Colouring Competition”. Julie visits our school regularly to talk about safety—Junior and Senior Infants had a particularly enjoyable experience ‘driving’ the squad car on her most recent visit. Thanks Julie.
Camogie and Football training has already commenced and our athletes did us proud in the Kildare Cross Country Meet before Easter.—thanks to our coaches and all the parents who volunteered to give lifts—I don’t think our sporting activities could continue without your help.
NATIONAL CHILDREN’S CHOIR
Parents of 5th and 6th classes—please return orders for tickets as soon as possible – extra tickets are already being requested.
